What is your motivation to proclaim the Gospel?

"... the more I understand why I preach. While there are many good and important motivations for preaching Christ which I keenly feel -- the salvation of the lost, the edification of God's people, the building-up of the Church -- none of them are really why I preach. I preach because there was a man who lived about 2000 years ago, who lived and taught, gathered a small band of disciples, died on a cross and rose again from the dead. He is uniquely exalted among all men who have ever lived in that He is God's true and unique Son. All that He did was as the One true Redeemer for a lost world. He is exalted in the heavens and reigns as Lord over all. I preach because He is my own Savior and Lord, because I want His name to be known among men and women, and because His glory is the greatest and highest of all causes in this world." ~ Rick Phillips

Thank You - for doing your job!

The first Medal of Honor awarded for combat in Afghanistan was presented Monday to the weeping parents of a Navy SEAL from Long Island, who gave his life to make a radio call for help for his team.

President Bush presented the nation's highest military honor for valor to the family of Lt. Michael Murphy of Patchogue, N.Y., who died when his elite combat team was surrounded high in the mountains of Afghanistan.

"While their missions were often carried out in secrecy, their love of country and devotion to each other was always clear," President Bush said. "On June 28, 2005, Michael would give his life for these ideals. ~ Associated Press

How are you making disciples?

"My study of discipleship in America has been eye-opening. Almost every church in our country has some type of discipleship program or set of activities, but stunningly few churches have a church of disciples." ~ George Barna

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." ~ Matthew 28:19-20

Are you complaining or trusting God?

Are you sure Jesus loves you?

"When we think of Christ's dying on the cross we are shown the lengths to which God's love goes in order to win us to Himself. We would almost think that God loved us more than He loves His Son. We cannot measure His love by any other standard. He is saying to us, "I love you this much."

The cross is the heart of the gospel; it makes the gospel good news. Christ died for us; He has stood in our place before God's judgement seat; He has borne our sins. God has done something on the cross which we could never do for ourselves. But God does something to us as well as for us through the cross. He persuades us that He loves us." ~ Sinclair Ferguson

"But God commendeth (demonstrated) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." ~ Romans 5:8

What is more valuable - integrity or fame?

"For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" ~ Matt 16:26

Decisions or Disciples?

"It is a serious injury to a person to receive him into the number of the faithful unless there is good reason to believe that he is really regenerate. I am sure it is so, for I speak after careful observation. Some of the most glaring sinners known to me were once members of a church; and were, as I believe, led to make a profession by undue pressure, well-meant but ill-judged. Do not, therefore, consider that soul-winning is or can be secured by the multiplication of baptisms, and the swelling of the size of your church. What mean these despatches from the battle-field? "Last night, fourteen souls were under conviction, fifteen were justified, and eight received full sanctification." I am weary of this public bragging, this counting of unhatched chickens, this exhibition of doubtful spoils. Lay aside such numberings of the people, such idle pretence of certifying in half a minute that which will need the testing of a lifetime. Hope for the best, but in your highest excitements be reasonable. Enquiry-rooms are all very well; but if they lead to idle boastings, they will grieve the Holy Spirit, and work abounding evil" ~ Charles Spurgeon

God loves the world - do you love people enough to tell them?

"We will not be disposed to invite wayward transgressors to Christ, or reason with them, or bring to them the overtures of the gospel, unless we are convinced that God is favorably disposed to them. Only if we are genuinely persuaded that He will have them to be saved are we likely to make the effort. If God does not love them it is hardly likely that we will make it our business to love them. Especially is this the case when there is so much that is repulsive in the ungodliness and sinfulness of Christ-rejecters." ~ Erroll Hulse

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." ~ 2 Peter 3:9

Can you know the Real God?

Have you been impatient lately?

"There are no sins God’s people are more subject to than unbelief and impatience; they are ready, either to faint through unbelief, or to fret through impatience. When men fly out against God by discontent and impatience, it is a sign they do not believe “that all things work together for good, to them that love God.” Discontent is an ungrateful sin, because we have more mercies than afflictions; and it is an irrational sin, because afflictions work for good…. The devil blows the coals of passion and discontent, and then warms himself at the fire." ~ Thomas Watson
