The Cross

The old cross is the symbol of death. It stands for the abrupt, violent end of a human being.

The man in Roman times who took up his cross and started down the road had already said good-bye to his friends. He was not coming back. He was going out to have it ended.

The cross made no compromise, modified nothing, spared nothing; it slew all of the man, completely and for good. It did not try to keep on good terms with its victim. It struck cruel and hard, and when it had finished its work, the man was no more. ~ A. W. Tozer

"And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it." ~ Luke 9:23-24

Can God have new thoughts? - ABSOLUTELY NOT!

“To say that God is infinite is to say that he is measureless. We cannot speak of measure or amount or size or weight and at the same time be speaking of God, for these tell of degrees and there are no degrees in God. All that He is He is without growth or addition or development. Nothing in God is less or more or large or small. He is what He is in Himself, without qualifying thought or word. He is simply God.” ~ A.W. Tozer

Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

What does it mean to be crucified - A.W. Tozer

There are three marks of one who is crucified:

1. He is facing in only one direction.

2. He can never turn back.

3. He no longer has any plans of his own.

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." ~ Gal 2:20
